Hi,

We are looking for a tool for modelling our business processes. This tool seems very usefull since it is very easy to use and offers the logic we are looking for. Unfortunatally when trying to export the data it seems VP doesn't offer the functionality. What we are basically looking for is a function that exports a website which is clickable and shows the documentation which is added to certain process steps.

Thanks for your comments.

ps. when are you planning the SP4 release, with BPEL?

kind regards,

Boris

Dear Boris,

Sorry, we will support report generation for BP-VA very soon. For the support of BP-EL, it will be available in BP-VA 1.2, which is planned to be released on 14/6/2006. But note that the release date is subject to changes.

Best Regards,
Jick

Hi Boris.

We have the same identical problem!

It seem that the feature will be available with the next release, available at the end of month.

Hoping to stay in touch.

Is the report generation you are currently developing is going to offer the possibility to be a Web Based solution.

What i am looking for right now is a way to export the diagram in a Web Page and be able to click on each process to see the documentation and/or to see the detail diagram of that process.

I am wondering if the feature you are currently working on is going to solve what I am looking for ?

By the way your product looks really nice !

If does not solve exactly what i am looking for, what advice would you give me to achieve something like this? Are there others tools that would be good to do that job ?

Thanks

Hi user,

We will support Project Publisher in the coming version of BP-VA. It lets you generate web pages for your project. The diagrams in the resulting web pages are fully click-able, i.e. you can click on a shape and jump to its specification page. Therefore, it should fulfill your need. If you want to evaluate this feature, you may try the Enterprise Edition of VP-UML, and select Tools | Project Publisher... from the main menu of the application.

Hi all,

The new version of BP-VA, BP-VA 1.1, is released. It includes a feature called "Project Publisher", which let you export your project into HTML Web contents. I would recommend you all to try it out. For more details about our new release, please visit our official site at:

Hi Jick,

the Project Publisher looks really good. In principle it does what I've expected. But what I cannot find in this documentation are the properties values that I defined in the specification boxes. Is that something coming up with the next version of BP-VA?

I also was wondering how I can adapt the html documentation to my needs. Are there style sheets (xslt) files that I can modify?

Best Regards
Hermann

Hi Hermann,

Which model and what properties are you referring to? Could you provide me with a screenshot to show the item(s) you want?

I also was wondering how I can adapt the html documentation to my needs. Are there style sheets (xslt) files that I can modify?

Sorry, but Project Publisher is not open for modification currently. But you can share your idea with us, may be we can do some adjustments to suit your need.

By the way, we support XML Export in the new version. You can write stylesheets to transform the exported XML file into your own documentation. For more details, please read:

Hi Jick,

thank you for your answer.

Question 1: in 'task specification' I added the new properties 'Cost' and 'Currency' and assigned values to these properties (see appended images). In the XML file I can find these values but not in the html export.

Question 2: Of course I could make my own stylesheets around the XML file. But that would mean a lot of work. I'm not a professional programmer but a process coach. The Project Publisher already creates a good result. What I want to do is just to do a little fine tuning to these pages e. g. to use an own logo, to remove some detail information and to add or rearrange some other info. In a system that creates htm files based on the xml file and a set of xslt stylesheets this could be done with very little effort also by 'amateur programmers'. Scripts like php would also be acceptable.

Best Regards
Hermann

Hi Hermann,

Let me answer your qusetions one by one:

Answer to Q1: I just asked our engineers to support properties table for Project Publisher and they implemented it immediately. The change will be deployed in the coming release (within this week). I will post again when it become available.

Answer to Q2: I suggest you send a ticket to our team with the detailed information on what you want to customize. Depending on your need, we may provide an interface for you to custom the outcome of Project Publisher. You can create a ticket from the link below:
