Floating license

Is it possible to buy a floating license (enterprise edition), that can be used with community version software? Meaning the only difference between the enterprise edition and the community version is the license? So user A could use the community/personal/professional version when not connected to the network, but when connected to the network, then get/use the enterprise version?

Dear guidosenator,

Thank you for your post. But our current license model does not support your need. Actually, if you want to work offline, you can export the license from the floating license server. For details, please read:

Thanks for the reply. Sorry so dumb here…still trying to understand your licensing model, with respect to the floating license. Is the following true:

1.) We have 3 users and they install the professional version of your product.

2.) We only buy one professional floating license.

3.) So…only one person can use the software at a time.

This I understand. Now a question.

Can you have more than one version installed on a PC, for example the professional version and the community version at the same time? Allowing one user to be using the community version and another to be using the professional version…but working on the same project?

Thanks…trying to determine our cheapest way to buy/use your (very good) product.

Hello guidosenator,

Your 3 points outlines the use of floating license perfectly. Let’s talk about your final question. You can install multiple instances at the same machine, one as Professional and another as Community Edition, as long as only one instance is started at a time.

Thanks for the reply!!

One last question before we buy. Can we use the community version to view/modify an existing project, created/modified by the professional version?

Thanks!!!

Hello guidosenator,

Yes, you can. But I suggest you use the Viewer Edition to view the content instead. It is much light-weight.
