Report Writer - Numbered/Bullet lines

Thanks Jik.

Yes once a report has been developed then the style is preserved within that report

But I still don’t see how consistent styles can be acheived across all users developing reports. Usually there are site standards on reporting layout e.g. standard footer header, splash pages, heading out lines etc. In word there is usually a single template that dictates the style used across all users but don’t see that in Open Office?

Mitchell.

Hi Mitchell,

Please try this:

  1. Create a new, blank report in Report Writer
  2. Export the report to an .odt or .doc file
  3. Open the file with your document editor (e.g. OpenOffice Writer / MS Word). We recommend you use OpenOffice Writer.
  4. Start designing your document template like adding your company logo, adding company description text, designing cover page, adjusting the styles VP will use (e.g. Heading 1 (VP), Table Contents)… Do whatever you like in the document. The design will be shared across your team.
  5. Save the file
  6. Give the file to your team members
  7. Follow the steps as described in the following page to let all members apply the document template file in their own environment:
    http://oldresources.visual-paradigm.com/tips_and_tricks/general/defining_templates_for_report_writer.html

Now, your team can start creating report with customized start-up document template.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Jick
