Teamwork Client usingsubversion with https and self signed certificates

Hello there,

I’ve figured out that there are still problems using the Teamwork client with Subversion in combination with https and self signed ssl certificates. When the server certificate is untrusted and unknown to your local subversion client, login to the repository is not possible. It fails with the dialog box “login failed”. To afford the login you have first to accept the certificate permanetly with a other client e.g. doing an svn ls https://server/reopos.
vp.log claims with follwing error:
Fri Jul 27 09:15:52 CEST 2007] [error] ExecuteOutput err svn: PROPFIND Anfrage fehlgeschlagen auf ‘/svn/vpptest’
[Fri Jul 27 09:15:52 CEST 2007] [error] ExecuteOutput err svn: PROPFIND von ‘/svn/vpptest’: Server certificate verification failed: certificate issued for a different hostname, issuer is not trusted (https://subversion)
[Fri Jul 27 09:15:52 CEST 2007] [warning] login svn fail , errMsg : null

An other thing that annoys to me is that the “login failed” messagebox appears on all errors that can occurence when you login and misspelled one of the something or a problem manners:

  • wrong server name
  • wrong path to repos
  • wrong username and password
  • unknown / untrusted server certificate (see above)
For an normal user the currently messagebox is dowdy because he have no information about the exact problem. Only vp.log shows an usefull information what went wrong (see attached log).
I would be nice when you fix this with better error messages in the message box and the possibility to accept ssl certificates.

Greets

Frank

Hi franky,

Thank you for your suggestion. I will forward your post to our developers. Oh by the way, we will support branching and tagging in the next release. Do you want to be notified when the release is out? I can inform you by Email if you want.

Best regards,
Jick

Hi jick,

sure you can do that. When will be the next release issued out? Is this an new version then or a service pack?

Regards

Frank

Hi Franky,

Please use other client to accept the certificate first. We will try to fix this problem.

We hope to release the next version in the next week, and yes, it will be a new version - VP Suite 3.1

Best regards,
Jick

Hi Franky,

VP Suite 3.1 Service Pack 1 has been released with the fix of the reported SVN problem. If you are running VP Suite 3.1, you can advance to Service Pack 1 by running the Updater inside the bin folder of VP Suite installation directory.

As always, feel free to let me know if there are any questions.

Best regards,
Jick
