Use of Generics stops reverse engineering

Hi,

Java code that uses Generics will lead to failures when reverse engineering (“syntax error”). Am I doing anything wrong, or does VP indeed not support anything past Java 1.4?

Best,
Moritz

Hi Moritz,

Thanks for your post. We’ve tried the reverse engineering for Java 1.4 and it works fine. Would you mind sending the source you reversed for investigation? Thanks in advance!

*If you do not want the source be accessed by public, please send it to lilian@visual-paradigm.com

Hi Lilian,

e.g. http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/incubator/sling/trunk/launchpad/base/src/main/java/org/apache/sling/launcher/app/Sling.java?revision=657002 will not work. Don’t know what’s causing the problem, but many other classes in the same project do not reverse from source code in VP. Reversing from byte code is OK.

Best,
Moritz.

Hi Moritz,

Thanks for providing the source code. We tried the source code with Instant Reverse and Java round-trip engineering > Reverse Code as well, but did not find any problem nor syntax error.

Would you mind sending me the vp.log file which is inside the VPSuite/bin folder? Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
