VP project files changed by merely opening the files

Hi all,
I discovered a quite interesting behavior on my journey with VP. I keep the files in a Git repository which is sufficient for my application. However, I recognized that a VP project files alters merely by opening an closing it without doing any changes to the model or the projects metadata. Is this a bug or intended behavior? If it is the later, what is the design rational behind this behavior?
