I’ve been trying to use component instances in deployment diagrams with no luck. I want them to be associated with their respective components. For example, I want to define a component and its interfaces, and then put an instance of it on a node. Now, the problem is that model assist does not seem to help with associating new component instances with their respective components. At first I thought that this would be possible by choosing “Open Specification” and then selecting the right component from the Component pull-down list. However, the component name did not show up on the screen and the Resident Component list of the corresponding node included a generic component name instead of the one I specified. Any help would be appreciated.
