Empty black screen

I have just install VP-UML.
But when I run it it keep giving a a black blank screen (the screenshot attached) at the main area of the window…

Is it normal?
How to work with this software if thearea where I suppose to create diagram is unaccessable?
What could cause it and how to fix it?
