I’m trying to use the text data type in my diagram, but it seems the programm does not recognizes this as a valid data type, does anyone, knows how to get the text type

Thanks for your post. May I know whether you have selected the default database (e.g. MS SQL) at Tools > Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) > Database Configuration?
Once you have selected the database that supports “text” datatype, you will be able to input “text” as datatype of column.
By the way, you need to use Visual Paradigm for UML (VP-UML)/Smart Development Environment (SDE) Professional Edition or above to access ORM features (at Tools > ORM).

To confirm:
If you have Standard Edition, you can’t create Entity Relationship diagrams with column types like “text”, “nvarchar”, “money”, “uniqueidentifier”, etc., because you don’t have access to the feature required to change your project’s default database?
As you might imagine, this greatly reduces the usefulness of this feature.
