Feature missing in "User Interface Diagramm"

Hi,

i’m a Business Engineer trying to use VP for most of my Analysis, Design and Description workflow.
One nice feature i come over is the ability to draw GUI’s directly in VP.
But one thing is missing.
On drawing a new GUI i’d not only like to describe the global elements like Panel, Frame, Tabbed Header but also the correspondig elements like columm, Tabs, Items…

Is there a plan to enhance the UI Drawing?

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for your post. In fact, we have tabbed header, which is the tabs shape, in the User Interface designer already, you may refer to the flash movie in the following link for detail steps:

But for the “columns” and “items”, I’m not sure what do you mean. Are you talking about tables in your meaning of “columns”?
Could you please explain more on these two points? thanks!

Best regard,
Lilian Wong

hi Lilian,

what i meant is:

when you draw a tabbed header you can define the each tab wich you want to be shown on the drawing.
the same with a table. For a table you can specify the columns to be shown on the drawing.

Those elements (the tab or column itself and every correspondig “element”) can only be “named” but not described. I’d like to describe the column in a way: “The value of this column is the Product of Attribute A and B”

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for your reply. We’re sorry that we do not support adding description to the element in the User Interface designer, but we will consider to support in the future. If there is any news about this issue, I’ll come back to you at once.

Thanks for drawing our attention on this issue! If there is anything I can help, please feel free to ask.

Best regards,

Hi Sebastian,

I’m not quite understand your meaning of “the same with a table. For a table you can specify the columns to be shown on the drawing.”, could you please give me more details or a sample? thanks in advance!

Hi Lilian,

yes you can describe a table but the columns within the table can only be named --> Column 1 is named number, Column 2 is named Amount, …
but the Column itself can not be described.

For a table I’d like to specifiy:

  1. the description of the whole table --> wich entity lies behind this table, under what happens under special circumstances.
    POSSIBLE
  2. wich column should appear
    POSSIBLE
  3. what is the meaning of the column, wich attribute is behind this column, how is the value of the column calculated.
    NOT POSSIBLE

hope it’s clearer now

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for replying.

yes you can describe a table but the columns within the table can only be named → Column 1 is named number, Column 2 is named Amount, …
but the Column itself can not be described.
I’ve passed this to our engineers to consider and I’ll let you know if there is any news about this.
Alternatively, you can insert a table in the documentation of the Table shape (you may refer to the attached image) to describe the columns.

  1. wich column should appear
Could you please explain more of the meaning of this point? Thanks a lot!
  1. what is the meaning of the column, wich attribute is behind this column, how is the value of the column calculated.
It can be done by inserting table in the documentation of the Table shape as I mentioned above.

I hope the alternative way can help. Looking for your reply.
