How to model a genralization in the ER diagram

I’m not able to model a generalization, e.g.
one superclass and 2 sub-classer connectet
with the same generalization operator.

Dear AB,

Thank you for your message. We are sorry that currently we do not support creating generalization with 2 sub-class connect with to the super class with the same generalization operator. In fact, connecting the super class and sub-class with the different generalization operator will not affect how the persistence layer being generated. And in the DB-VA 3.0, we support a more flexible way to store the inheritance relationship in database. Fore more information, please visit http://uml.visual-paradigm.com/uml/VP_Suite_2.1_Early_Access/Object_Relational_Mapping/New_Inheritance_Strategy_(Table_per_subclass)

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again.

Hello,

i have the same problem. So i read and did my 2 subclasses /on a ER Diagram / though this option “Partial Table”. Now i got another problem trying to bind/connnect/ the Subclasses with another new class. It just forbids. Why?
Do i have to add some additional options in my Subclasses or in the class i want to connect with them?

Another question/problem i had today was with the attribute hierarchie. HOw can i create subattributes from one attribute in VP?

Regards
Alex

Dear Alex,

Thank you for your message. The partial table is used to separate a class into multiple tables when saving to database. In your case, I think our new inheritance strategy in the DB-VA 3.0 may help. Please visit the following link for more information about the new inheritance strategy at

http://uml.visual-paradigm.com/uml/VP_Suite_2.1_Early_Access/Object_Relational_Mapping/New_Inheritance_Strategy_(Table_per_subclass)

And you can download the early access version of VP Suite 2.1 (including DB-VA 3.0) at

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again.
