I claim it wasn’t never tested properly, it’s just one of many similar examples.
Black text on black background. Please correct this.

Thank you for your post and sorry for the problem. May I know what your operating system is (Windows, Linux, Mac, etc) and which look and feel option are you using? You can check from the Application Options window by selecting the Window > Applications from the main menu.

for security reasons the “patch updater.exe” does not work, how can I download the latest patch directly?

You can download and extract it to obtain a fully executable build.
