Performance indices

Hello,

we use Agilian Standard 4.0 on clients with Teamwork Server Basic 6.0 on server.

Our clients are equipped with Intel Core 2 Quad CPUs with 2,5 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB Harddisk (non-SSD) and 64-Bit Windows 7.

Our teamwork project has grown very large and must not be split up into several projects.

Actually it takes us several minutes on our clients for merging teamwork project revisions for updates and commits from/to teamwork server.

So, now we want to improve the performance of our clients as we provide these clients with better hardware components.

Could you give us the most important performance indices, which should be considered in the hardware equipment of our clients to increase performance significantly (e.g. number of cpu cores, cpu clock speed, memory size, hard disk speed and size etc.)?

Best regards,
charon

Hello Charon,

Thank you for your message. Actually we are now on a major performance tune up to our products (see http://www.visual-paradigm.com/product/performance/). This performance tune up will be roll out very soon. Would it be possible that you can send us your project file so that we can test it with our new architecture and let you know how it being improved? If you don’t mind you can send me your project to support-team@visual-paradigm.com. Look forward to hear from you.

Best regards,
Rain Wong

Hello Rain,

thank you for your reply.

We will discuss project upload internally and are looking forward to try out your software performance tune up next time.

But are there anyway some significant hardware parameter recommendations that we have to consider in equipping our clients for better performance when working with large VP projects (e.g. number of cpu cores, cpu clock speed, memory size, hard disk speed and size etc.)?

Best regards,
charon

Hello Charon,

For the current architecture the CPU speed is not the most critical one. The amount of physical memory is more critical. But in the new architecture the application can run with large project with a very consistent and of course improved performance. We recommend the application will run with 512 - 1024 MB of memory. Of course a faster harddisk and CPU always help
