Virtualization

Is it possible to model a virtual environment with UML?
I mean, to model the virtual machines, the hypervisor and the underlying physical hardware?

Hi Ing Emi,

Thank you for your post. You can use Component Diagram to model a virtual environment because Component Diagram is used to identify the initial architectural landscape for a system, particularly for systems with arbitrary size and complexity.

If you have any further inquiries, please feel free to ask.

Thank you very much!!!

Do you have any example??? I have worked with Component Diagrams but just with hosts, servers, networks…

Should I represent each virtual machine as a node? Which souldh be the correct connection between these VM and the hypervisor???..and between the hypervisor and the hardware??

I have been looking for something like this in the web but I haven’t found anything!!!

Hi Ing Emi,

We are sorry that we do not have samples of component diagram about virtual environment. Maybe you can visit the following website and see if these can help you to model. If you have any inquiries, please feel free to contact me again.
